CLOCKING
HOURS
Screen stimulation just before bed
makes it harder to wind down, and if
your phone is right next to you, you
might be tempted to check messages
during the night. For your best sleep,
make it technology-free. No phones
and no TVs in the bedroom.
If you haven’t started using an antiaging night serum, now is the time.
Look for one that contains hyaluronic
acid, which draws water into the skin
and delays the onset of wrinkles.
Because your body repairs skin
damage at night, creams and serums
such as these work best while you’re
sleeping.
Try sleeping on your back, with your
head elevated by two pillows to drain
the fluid retention away from your
face and eyes.
BATTLING BUG BITES
No matter how careful you are,
avoiding mosquito bites in Thailand
is nearly impossible. If you have a
few pesky bites, try these tips to help
them heal.
1
GREEN
TEA BAG
A cooled, wet tea bag makes a natural
home remedy for insect bites. Just
apply the tea bag to the bite to calm
the itch and reduce inflammation
before bedtime.
2
ALOE
VERA
A trusted go-to for all kinds of skin
irritation, aloe vera can help reduce
your mosquito bites. Keep a tube of it
in the fridge for cooling relief.

STICKY
TAPE
If you tend to scratch in your sleep,
putting a piece of tape or a band-aid
over the bite before you hit the hay
will help prevent you from scratching
while you’re sleeping. (Try this trick
on your kids!)
SETTING THE SCENE
For beauty sleep to work, you need to
set the stage, and you need to have
enough of it, too.
1
SQUEAKY
CLEAN FACE
A hasty splash of water is not enough
to rinse off the day’s makeup and
grime, especially not in a city like
Bangkok. Your skin repairs itself
while you’re asleep and to do so it
needs a clean canvas. Make sure to
wash, exfoliate, tone, and moisturize
before bed for an even and dewy
complexion.
Each person is different, but generally
you need between seven to nine
hours of sleep per night. If you’re sleep
deprived, you’ll not only feel lousy and
stressed, but your skin will look pale
and tired as well. Don’t deny yourself
the beauty regime that you can
literally do in your sleep. Be sure you
give your body enough time to heal
and repair itself as much as you can.
Got
Sleep?
REMEMBER THIS
We need deep sleep in order
to store long-term memories
and to learn and retain new
information.
SLEEP AND CREATIVITY
There are two theories about
sleep and creativity. One
asserts that “creative insomnia”
brings on spurts of creativity.
Other research indicates that
insight and creativity are
increased by sleep.
