ART AND HERITAGE : THE WOODEN KITCHEN TOOLS OF KON TAM MAI
Attention to detail is perhaps less common in today ’ s society , which tends to emphasize speed over quality . Many of us , accustomed to convenience , have lost sight of the time , energy and skill required to shape raw material into a work of art .
And it is art — functional art — that Koh Tam Mai brings to Bangkok with its brand of unique wooden kitchen utensils . Founder Noi spent much of her childhood admiring the wooden boats that her grandfather used to build and she now brings the joy and heritage of traditional Thai woodwork to the home cook .
Noi says she measures her success and progress with her customers ’ much-appreciated feedback . When customers tell her that they love their purchases or give her constructive feedback , she feels motivated to keep breaking the mold of mass-produced utensils with her products that delight home chefs — and would make her grandfather very proud .

Currently , the seafood produced by the Small Scale Fishers and Organic Fishery Products Project are most easily accessible through the Bangkok Farmer ’ s Market , although more and more Bangkok restaurants and hotels are stocking their seafood supplies .
