He could see the powerful , underlying , center-oriented pattern of the storm and , all around him , the same repeating designs that form the world .
from that point onward . “ My new vision didn ’ t arise from noting the world ’ s contrasts but instead its similarities . Everything shares a common pattern . The patterns that we see in nature also underline people . It ’ s something you can see everywhere .”
All of nature ’ s patterns share the same center-oriented shape — a natural result of centers being at the heart of the universe ’ s great creative process . Jin encourages people to step outside and take a look for themselves : You will discover the branching systems of trees are just like the stretching bronchi of our lungs , the tributaries of a river , or the winding roads converging on a city . Perhaps you ’ ll notice the spirals of a sunflower and be reminded of seashells , the ear ’ s cochlea , a swirling galaxy , or the way concentric circles form when you skim a stone over water — just like the rings of a tree ’ s cross-section , the slices of an onion , or the rings of Saturn . But these patterns aren ’ t limited to the clearly observable . They can extend to human behavior and emotion , too .
Unfortunately , the connections we share with nature are often obscured by the hustle and bustle of modern society , so Jin worked to silence the negativity and what he calls “ competition culture ” of 21 st century life . His mission ? To discover his place in the great jigsaw puzzle of being .
After 20 years of exploring the world around him , he finally felt like he had reached a new level . “ I was in Hua Hin on vacation with my children . In a quiet moment , I asked my teacher , the universe , what is the next step for me on this journey ? The answer was clear : To teach what I have learned .”
STUDENT BECOMES MASTER
Jin ’ s seeds of curiosity that were planted all those years ago in Rayong have now sprouted and grown into numerous books , including , “ Heart of the Universe ” and “ Heart of Gold .” His repertoire of texts is based on his Centerpath formulization , a unique learning path that seeks to show people how they are connected to nature and the wider universe and how we can shape our lives for the better through the understanding of this . He says , “ Once you learn the processes and wisdoms behind nature , you can apply them to the way you live your life and make the changes needed to enhance and improve it .”
Jin ’ s 2013 book “ Heart of Gold ” shows how these patterns work and how they can be applied to daily life , but the teachings of Centerpath also compel one to dig a little deeper . Jin explains that in order to live by these patterns and make positive changes , one must confront the source of the problem — the center of the pattern . “ Your life is comprised of a lot of different centers — needs , wants , desires , and dreams . If you get underneath each of them and install purity at the core , what flows out from it will be enhanced ,” he says . “ With purity at the source of everything , you can raise the quality of the larger holistic creations operating about you . Your life , your disposition , your relationships — everything .”
For example , if you have found yourself in a pattern of negative behavior , perhaps in a relationship with a loved one , take the time to examine what is at the core of it . Are you always acting with love , or is there negativity and selfishness there ? If what you find is not wholesome , learn how to install virtue in its place and watch as what flows forth improves .
HERE AND NOW
For Jin Nua , there was no better place to discover the world around him and examine the workings of nature than right here in Thailand . Not only is the country home to some of nature ’ s most diverse landscapes and fascinating plant and animal species , but there ’ s something about the way of life here that he has found thoroughly conducive to self-discovery .
“ There ’ s something magical about being here which I just don ’ t feel when I ’ m in the States .” This difference , Jin believes , is down to a willingness to be more open , learn , and listen . “ As a country , Thailand is generally more fruitful for being
