Circleville staffers credited with saving colleague’s life

Two Circleville Middle School staff
members were accredited during last
week’s Pine Bush Board of Education
meeting for saving a fellow staff member’s
life.
School nurse Tammy Sullivan and
security aide Chris Foreman were
awarded for their quick response with
helping a staff member who had collapsed
a few weeks ago shortly after the school
day had begun.
“[Sullivan and Foreman] rushed to her
aide providing her with CPR, providing her
with compressions and also used the AED
on that individual,” says Superintendent
Tim Mains. “...Our security staff and
our nurse here at [Circleville Middle
School] really helped ensure that this
staff member was kept alert and prepared
to get into an ambulance and get to the
hospital...She eventually recovered and is
back amongst us.”
Sullivan and Foreman were awarded
certificates of accommodation.
“Both of these individuals will tell
you, ‘I was just doing my job’,” says Mains.
“And they were. But, in the process of

budget during the board of education
meeting.
New recommendations to Pine Bush
schools include: $450,000 for increasing
professional development to support their
Strategic Plan initiative, $184,024 for hiring
two English as a New Language (ENS)
teacher s to improve compliance, $40,000
to add four sections of ninth grade special
education through stipends, $35,000 to
increase the district contribution to
summer academies, $86,577 for adding
a Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts and Mathematics Coordinator to
support the Partnership Response in
Manufacturing Education initiative,
$98,601 for hiring a behavioral specialist
to support K-12 special education students
and decreasing $86,577 in funds to
eliminate one elementary teacher due to
declining enrollment. The total cost of
new recommendations is $807,625.
In the future, Pine Bush is looking
to add more foreign language teachers,
including a French teacher, literacy
coaches and a health teacher, with a total
cost of $708,831.
The next Pine Bush Board of Education
meeting will be held on March 20, 7 p.m. at
Circleville Middle School.

gather next week for a Town Hall-
style candidates’ forum moderated by
the Wallkill Valley Times.
Candidates Andrew Lenane,
Maria Beltrametti and incumbent
Andrew Roepe will meet at the
Montgomery Senior Center on
Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a
question and answer session.

will also have the opportunity to

intermission.
