On behalf of the Walkway Over the Hudson Board of Directors and staff , WELCOME ! We are thrilled to host the 2nd Annual Walkway Marathon after a huge success in 2015 .
We are thankful for the strong support of our partners — Dutchess County Government , Marist College , the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club , Dutchess Tourism , Inc ., iHeart MediaRoyal Carting , Arnoff Moving and Storage , Health Quest and many others — as we welcome athletes of all ages , abilities and experience levels to the Walkway Marathon weekend .
Registrants will have the opportunity to qualify for the Boston Marathon , and will play a critical role in aiding our organization ’ s pledge to continue making the Walkway Marathon series a “ green ” race . We are committed to hosting an environmentally responsible event . From a completely paperless registration system to this digital race packet , runners are supporting eco-friendly practices from start to finish .
I encourage you to take a leisurely stroll on the Walkway , ride the 21-story riverfront elevator , get to know our residents , and savor the beautiful countryside while you are here . Welcome to Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park ! Walkway is one of the many incredible parks and historic sites that are run by the NYS Office of Parks , Recreation and Historic Preservation . While the park was only opened in 2009 , it has quickly become one of the premier destinations in the Hudson Valley and the entire NYS Parks system .
Walkway State Historic Park offers a phenomenal backdrop for your race today and we ’ re excited to have the Walkway Marathon Series return . You are sure to find other inspiring locales at State Parks and Historic Sites here in the Hudson River Valley and in other parts of New York . From invigorating hiking spots and serene camping sites to historic mansions and gorgeous landscapes , there is something for everyone to explore .
