Walkway Marathon: 2016 Digital Race Packet | Page 56
Welcome to the 2016 Walkway Marathon!
The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health is excited and honored to
be participating in the 2016 Walkway Marathon! As the lead agency for the provision of medical
care for all runners, spectators, and marathon event staff, it is our responsibility to ensure we are
prepared to respond to all healthcare needs during the Marathon.
Medical assistance will be available throughout the course at two mile intervals in proximity to water
stations. First Aid Stations will be equipped to provide basic first aid and coordinate emergency
care for participants and spectators as needed. The Medical Tent, located at the start/finish area,
will be staffed by experienced emergency medical personnel who are affiliated with local hospitals
and ambulance services. If you have any health concerns, please reach out to a medical staff person
at any of these locations for assistance.
Staying hydrated is of utmost importance; water stations will be available throughout the
course. Consider bringing layered, lightweight clothing and a hat for protection against the sun.
Remember to bring sunscreen and insect repellent as well.
