THE 40th International started with a bang on Friday July 27th with 173 fast running barrel entries turning and burning for the big bucks . Spearheaded by the Illinois team of Hallie Pollard and Jodi Dedecker Bubar , this Barrel Extravaganza has proven to be a very popular addition to The International and has exposed the walking horse to an entirely different aspect of the equine industry which in turn has shown other breeds that the Tennessee Walking Horse is indeed versatile . In fact , four registered walking horses ran in the open IBRA barrel race placing very well . We hope the Barrel Extravaganza continues to be a big part of the International !
July 28th ! Just how versatile can our breed be ? Read on ! Starting the day off underneath sunny skies with a wonderful breeze the walking horses provided capable Judge Katrina Boles with Hunter Hack horses and proceeded to Jumping before completing a day filled to the brim with Dressage entries . 81 Dressage entries made the honorable judge Boles work hard for her money . The many exhibitors commented on the courteous and detailed remarks written on their dressage tests by Mrs . Boles . After a long day , the bed was a most welcome sight AND site .
July 29th . Up and atta em early the next day for an expected long versatile day filled to the max ! Hours are getting long as the entries just keep coming . 542 was the total at the end of day three . Another late night had us filled with excitement over the talent displayed by our versatile horses and the many new exhibitors that had come to the International for the first time ever !
