WHOA Versatility Show Perryville, Missouri • May 19 The Perryville Missouri WHOA Show was a success with a most re- spectful turn out of Tennessee Walk- ing Horses and Racking Horses. The show was capably judged by Joshua Burchfield of Cordova. I need to give a huge THANK YOU to ev- eryone who helped make this show move with efficiency, especially my favorite sister, Nancy Kirkpatrick who gave up her Saturday to take entries and pictures. What a delight to see friends from years ago. Making me feel OLD but what a great treat it was to see several “versatility kids”  all grown up, graduated from college, buying their “own” horses and still enjoy- ing showing a Tennessee Walking Horse.  My theory has always been that owning and showing a TWH teaches a person (no matter if they are young or old) responsibility and duty.  That if you have some animal you must take care of that animal, and of course that life is not always fair. I firmly believe youth raised with horses make the most respon- sible adults and that the care of the animal usually keeps the youth out of big trouble. It was a delight  for me to see the nice Racking Horses all showing in their “finery” on this stormy hot day. Back “in da day” the shows in Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Tennes- see, and Alabama where I showed had American Saddlebred Classes, Fancy Pony Turn Out Classes, Road Horse Classes as well as our favor- ite walking horse classes. Not only did this give each breed a chance to see the merits of the other breeds, make new friends, give the trainers a chance to MAYBEEEEE catch their breath between classes but intro- duced the exhibitors and spectators to several breeds. I MISS those shows. A big thank you to the Jim Morris Stable for their donation of beautiful cut glass vases for trophies in the Racking Horse Stake and the Flat Shod Gaited Stake, these lovely vases were much sought after. Jessica Marlewski and her new mount, Rowdy Spirit won the Flat Shod Gaited Stake in an outstanding performance. This new duo really “fit” each other, not only is Rowdy a beautiful, colorful mount but he can walk and shake his head. Expect more blue ribbons from this duo. –Sis Osborne Brady Bachert aboard his new wining mount, She’s Fun And Games, and Cheyenne Higgs and her wining ride, Vigors Vengance. Beth McClain and Paige Yam- intz who were one and two in the Egg and Spoon. 12 • Walking On Hard at work as usual doing an excellent job for WHOA.
