WHOA Shows (KY Breeders Fund Eligible) Franklin, Kentucky • April 28 & 29 WOW! The WHOA Show series at Franklin, Kentucky held the last of April and the first of May was a rousing success! 400 entries made the gate call in the two day series. 229 showed Sunday and 179 turned out on Sunday. Thus exceeding our expectations following a VERY wet and cold spring. The horses were frisky on the very cool and windy days but walk they did. Well filled classes called for the Yearling class to be split—9 pretty Tennessee Walking Horses made the gate call for the Model Class AND 11 entries tried the Trail Obstacle Class on Saturday with the Starnes Stables making a clean sweep of the wins (1-2-3-4-5). WHOA Staff was very pleased with the turn-out for the Trail Class on Saturday and we were overwhelmed when 24 entered AND showed in the trail Obstacle Class on Sunday. A HUGE THANK YOU to Ronnie Sapp for his assis- tance in this situation Bobby Richards Stables showed several times and did well with Dr. John Gladney topping this stables’ winning list. Maggie Moore was not to be outdone in the winning column as she rode the Leek and Moore entries to blues on both Sat- urday and Sunday. Once again I must brag on the youth. They came to show with success on their minds and rode hard to achieve victories. The youth flat shod class had 9 good walking entries. The 4 H Class was also very well filled. WHOA offers a 4 H Class for TWH ridden by a 4 H Member in their shows. There is NO ENTRY FEE in this class to encourage our 4 H members to show. It is working! Mallory Johnson and Wicked Times claimed this blue ribbon, taking just one of several blues won by the Vic Gernt family. Another class unique to WHOA that was designed to encourage our very young and/or inexperi- enced riders is the Walk Only Class. Winning this was Carver Woosley aboard the trusty I Am Legend. This pair remained undefeated in this division for the 2nd year. It was a delight to see an ADULT Shelby Finch showing her home trained two year old. Shelby has graduated to the adult division. She easily made this transition look easy with the training and hauling of her horses, by her own self!!!!! Good job Shelby. WHOA Staff was happy to wish Mr. John Wright a HAPPY 91 and Shelby a HAPPY 19. Both of these marvelous folks are staunch WHOA supporters and we hope the coming year brings them happiness and success!! –Sis Osborne Dr. John Gladney with blue ribbon winners Big Time Charlie and Light Em Up. I Am Legend and Carver Woosley. El’s A Poppin and Rachel Cowles enjoyed the trail course. Blue ribbon entries in the Lead Line class. The Model class was a popular destination. Bobby Richards holding Ann Johnson’s blue ribbon winner Annie’s Silver Dream. 18 • Walking On
