WHOA Versatility Show
October 21, 2018 • Murfreesboro, Tennessee
The WHOA VERSATILITY
SHOW held at the MacGregor’s
Stables in Murfreesboro, Tennes-
see proved to be a success in spite
of Mother Nature. Once again the
week-end threatened to be COLD
with Tennessee temps dropping into
the high 30s the previous night.A
bit daunting to arise at the crack
of dawn and wash your horse for
a trailer ride and a show starting
at 10A.M. As the day wore on the
temperature heated up, the horses
became less frisky, the mud dried up
and a good time was had by all. Our
thanks to Lynn and Scot Macgregor
for allowing WHOA to use their
beautiful facility. It is a lovely place
to hold a show.
The show was ably judged by Eli
Murphy who moved the show along
yet gave each horse his attention.
Peggy Moore did an excellent job as
announcer, while WHOA’s Secre-
tary Teresa Owen once again heled
by being the gate “man” once she
finished with the entries!
Scot had designed and set up a
challenging trail obstacle course to
start the day. Dolly Dumas proved up to the challenge for Kitty Keen
and John Wright, a close reserve was
Victory Trip and Dan Starnes.
There were several new youth
exhibitors which always makes our
day. The future of the breed is the
youth members. Folks braved the
cold, cold morning to show from
Illinois, Missouri, ????
Jason Crawhorn scared us early in
the frosty morning when his horse
slipped and both took a tumble end-
ing up very muddy but unharmed.
Thank goodness! Jason brought a
trailer full of NICE horses and took
the right colored ribbons back to
Kentucky. Charlie Howard’s young
horse was feeling its oats and wanted
to hump up but decided that wasn’t
such good idea. The air was COLD
and the horses were frisky. All these
actions were taking place prior to
the 10 A.M. start time
Youth riders were on hand to
compete in both versatile and rail
classes. As I stated there were new
faces in the ring making things
interesting. Mallory Johnson made
one of her better rides in a compet-
itive class of youth All Day Plea- sure horses to earn the win aboard
Wicked Times. I thought this pair
was spot on!
Shelby FInch just out of the
YOUTH Division brought her
young filly to show and Jouls han-
dled the day like an oldster. This pair
made a very respectable showing in
the TUFF obstacle class as well as
rail classes.
Several of the classes were neck
and neck with the placings being
based on one’s opinion as the horses
made almost equal shows. Many
classes would have been TUFF for
me to judge and I was glad Eli had
the pencil!!!
Caterina’s Mexican food hit the
spot and we were glad they were on
hand to warm us up from the inside
out!!!
Again WHOA thanks the entire
staff at MacGregor Stables for a real-
ly nice show. The grounds and show
ring were in great shape despite the
rain and cold weather. The staff had
to get up at the crack of dawn to ob-
tain this condition. THANK YOU!

ing the sunny day. Big Time Charlie and Dr. John Gladney
