Day 5 Day 4 The attention to detail down to fresh coffee and doughnuts in the show office sends a welcome message for all who enter. WE needed more than coffee this am. Hit the sack at 1:30 am up at 8:30----stuck the head of red MILLER clay under th e faucet and was ready to roll. I am pretty sure that the motel staff thinks the “horse show” crew are involved in orgies that include red dye as all of our tubs must be red each day when they come in to clean. You have to really scrub to get THE MILLER off ya but the cool air is sooooo worth it. Once again my appreciation to the Boss Dude for not planning any day time activities thus allowing us to sleep “in”. I realize you may think I am exag- gerating when I say we are seeing the best flat shod horses EVER but trust me I am NOT. Don’t believe me????Get yourself to the International and check it out!!!! The evening performance started with a beau- tiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner by WHOA President, Rhonda Martocci. Charles Tisher gave the moving invocation . Mr. Stacey Beam of Nashville kept the audience entertained with his lovely organ music. Plenty of help in center ring made the work both easy and enjoyable Jodi Bubar and Shannon Walker capably handled the paddock master/mistress duties. Another night of good entries! 12 • Walking On Well that nasty rumor you have heard about WHOA going to the dogs has come true! Today dogs of all breeds---shapes---and looks competed for the coveted title of International Grand Championship Dog. Talk about heated competition, good looking dogs of all breeds gave judge Peggy Edwards a tough time in her decision making. The entries for the 39th International continue to climb as the dog show entries were up over last year with 70 good dogs competing. Very thrilled and excited Jalynn Myers and her Aussie, Scout, were chosen as Best In Show. Night time exhibitors remem- ber ribbons are awarded based on judges decisions and while Show Management hires the judges it is the judg- es decision. We all need to remember showing horses is subjective. Horse shows are supposed to be FUN! We have had several rule infractions. Exhibitors please be aware of the WHOA rules-----helmets MUST be worn in ALL 11 and under classes. IF you are a member of a professional trainer’s family you can not show a horse in Country Pleasure nor All Day Pleasure unless you own the horse. It can not be co owned nor leased. PLEASE be aware of the rules. I know there are many different walking horse organizations and each oper- ates under its own rules. It is your responsibility to be cognizant of the rules prior to walking in the ring. We want you in the show ring. The International exceeded 1400 entries tonight! Not too dang shabby. At 1 am we were just about asleep until Side Lined strolled in and woke us all up. He is something else !
