Making Strides with the Southern Strides Pleasure Walking Horse Association Southern Strides was formed in 2015 with the purpose of promoting the flatshod Tennessee Walking Horse in Georgia and the southeast. Our goal is to establish a flatshod show circuit where families can enjoy their horses, showcase the versatility of the Tennessee Walking Horse and provide educational opportunities for our members. All of our shows will be affiliated with Walking Horse Owner’s Association (WHOA) and will include traditional rail and versatility classes. Our shows will be governed by the current WHOA Rulebook. Participants can accrue points toward Walking Horse Owner’s Association (WHOA) high points program if they are a member of WHOA and can also accrue points toward the Southern Strides high-point awards program if they are a member of Southern Strides. In addition to establishing a show circuit, we are providing opportunities for our members to learn more about Tennessee Walking Horses and horses in general through clinics, demonstrations, schooling shows and other means. Our major focus is on youth and versatility. We had great youth involvement in 2015 and expect to have even more in 2016. We would love for you to join us! Announcing Southern Strides Super Horse Award! We are pleased to announce another great benefit for Southern Strides members! This year we will sponsor the Southern Strides Super Horse Award for the youth 4-H horse/rider team that accumulates the most points at Southern Strides shows in 2016. Points can be accumulated in both the rail and versatility classes. Rider/handler must be under 19 years of age on Jan 1st 2016 10 • Walking On and must also be an active member of their county’s 4-H club (from any state). The winner will be awarded a Super Horse sash and $100 cash! Please see our website: www. southernstridestwh.org for more information and a nomination form. Participants do not have to show at all four shows, but remember -- the more you show, the more points you accumulate!!
