Bits and Pieces Virginia Is For Gaited Horses Susan Ellis and her registered TWH horses-Executive Eagle (right) and Gigolos Cowboy Cadillac DJ (left) enjoy showing gaited classical dressage and Western dressage in open competitions in Virginia. Susan and her horses are active in the Virginia Dressage Association (VADA) Schooling Shows and the emerging Western Dressage shows. Executive Eagle (‘Casper’) and Susan are pictured here winning a Championship at the recent VA Dressage Association (VADA) Central Chapter Championship Schooling Show. Executive Eagle is a product of the great breeding program of Karla Massey of Oxford Mississippi. Gigolos Cowboy Cadillac DJ (Cowboy) received the Oldest Horse Award this year at the VADA Chapter Challenge Schooling Show. They also just completed the new Airfield Western Dressage series. On her horse Touch The Magic, Susan competed in gaited dressage and now has added trot to his repertoire. They now compete in USDF classes alongside trotting breeds. Over the last few years, Susan and her horses have worked to create acceptance and enthusiasm in Virginia for gaited horses and now Western dressage in open dressage competitions.She is also on the Board of Directors for two VADA local chapters. Susan is a Captain in the United States Navy Reserve and is about to conclude her 28th year. She resides outside Richmond, Virginia. We Want To Hear From You!
