WHOA Midwest Walking Horse Championship The Midwest Walking Horse Championship offered classes for all divisions and all ages! Held in Jackson, Missouri the central location drew horses from not only the home state of Missouri but surrounding states of Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. The inside arena, Flickerwood, made the inclement weather of no importance. Missouri was in dire need of a rain so the misty days were not unwelcome. After the show on Saturday night, Susan and Dennis Hills, along with Kary and Jason Bachert, provided an excellent chili supper with all the trimmings including chips, crackers, cheese, hot dogs, buns and all kinds of sweets! DEEEELICIOUS! Thank you for a most entertaining evening to cap off a good day’s show giving the folks time to mix and mingle without competing.  I had a wonderful time renewing friendships at the Midwest Walking Horse Championships, meeting new friends and seeing friends from years past. One of the most enjoyable—at least to me—things about showing horses is the lifelong friends we meet. We travel to shows in different states and make friends with people showing their horses that we would never have the opportunity to meet in other situations. A prime example of this Standing in line to get a taste of Dennis Hills’ flavorful chili Absolutely DEEEElicious. friendship is the complete happiness shown by the duo of young ladies who started their friendship in the Versatility Program at least 20 years ago. They saw each other as they competed against each other–both earning their Youth superior Championships–then as they grew and college challenged them they did not see each other. Years past swiftly with each pursuing their dreams, marriage took place, children entered the mix and they just did not see nor hear from each other. This past weekend Danielle Gernt Johnson (Natural Lady) and Martha Huck-Miller ( Boy He’s Outrageous & Dancing Spirit) received the opportunity to rekindle their friendship.
