WHOA Shows • Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Cape Girardeau, Missouri hosted
their third WHOA Welcome Winter
Show. With temperatures starting
off in the high 40s and the wind
chill factor, exhibitors were forced to
don their winter jackets, scarves, ear
muffs and gloves in order to show.
It was a blustery day with only the
loyal showing their good walking
horses. Blowing dust and leaves had
even the experienced horses seeing
“boogers”. This weather had a very
interesting effect on the horses to
say the least.
Although the show was lower in
the number of entries than hoped,
the horses exhibited high caliber
abilities. Capably judging was Jason
Bachert of Wildwood Missouri
whose son, Brady did an outstanding job of handling the Ring Master
duties. Dennis Hill of Farmington
Missouri provided much needed
help at the gate. Dennis not only
opened and shut the ring gate all day
long but was the absolute best ribbon girl of the show!!!!! A big shout
out to Nancy Kirkpatrick for bringing lunch to the staff from Dexters
Bar-B-Que. Best sister EVER!!!!!
–Sis Osborne
The cold blustery weather did not dampen
the spirits of these young exhibitors. Huddled together in the Youth Pleasure Class
are Mallory Johnson, Shelbie Scheffer and
Maddie Smith. These young ladies showed in
several classes and had a ball. Making new
friends is part of the fun of horse shows.
Cute “little” Paige Yaminetz is all grown up
these days! Paige has been involved in showing walking horses since years ago when she
was an avid versatility competitor. Still as
pretty as she was at least 10 years ago, Paige
has matured into not only a pretty young
lady but a very capable one who expertly
pulled her big rig to the show by herself; got
her horse saddled, bridled and ready for the
show ring, then exhibited several times with
many good wins. Missouri gals are capable
and tough!
A “volunteer” group that have worked together to put on the show at Scheffer’s Stone Creek
Stables in the Cape Girardeau area consist of Ashley Smith, Eric Runnels, Debbie Birk (
whose husband Rob was handling the DQP duties and was not present for the picture)
Angie Runnels, Randy Lawenses, Kim and Paul Sche
