One of the moose cow and calf pairs we saw on the trail to Alaska Basin Smith Wilderness. We made a long climb up Green Mountain before descending the switchbacks to the valley below. Our lunch break was taken on the banks of the pristine lower Green Lake. As we were eating our sandwiches you could see the trout swimming close to shore. After lunch we made a rocky climb towards an alpine area where again the wind greeted us fiercely. As we continued to climb, the tip of the Grand Teton became visible and the further we went the more we could see. At our photo op location it seemed as though we could reach out and touch the peaks, of course they were actually a few miles away, but it was a surreal moment that makes you feel extremely small.
