There were two events of importance that occurred on January 22nd of this year. First, former President Lyndon Baines Johnson died, (no great loss), and second and by far the most important event for women in our lifetime was the Supreme Court ruling in Roe vs. Wade in a 7 to 2 majority, that a woman has a constitutional right to have an abortion! Again girls, this is the most important event for women, probably in the history of our nation. It is my deepest hope that you will become involved in the battle for equal rights for women and live out in your lives the great principles of the women’s rights movement.” She continued her discourse until the bell rang. “I see our time is up.
