Calamity Day Contingency Plan

Due to the extremely cold and snowy winter, we have had a higher than usual number of calamity days when school hasn’t been in session because of the weather. In an effort to be proactive, we have developed a contingency plan if we were to exceed the allotted number of calamity days, regardless of the total number. If it becomes necessary, we will use the following days in this order to make up any calamity days:

• Monday, March 24

• Monday, April 21

• Friday, June 6

If and when we determine that it is necessary to use any of these days for calamity make-up, we will alert everyone by email and phone blasts as well as communicate through the building newsletters.

Kindergarten Registration

If you have a child or know of a child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2014, it is time to get them registered for kindergarten. Each elementary school has a designated date for kindergarten registration. Parents should call the elementary school office to request that a Kindergarten Pre-registration Packet be mailed to them, and to reserve an appointment time. On the appointment date, parents should bring their child and all completed paperwork to the school. Children will be asked to perform several tasks so we can assess their skills. Parents will be provided with information on his/her skill development and they will receive some helpful suggestions and materials to make the home-to-school transition a successful one.
