VPHS The only days on the calendar are from Monday to Sunday, “someday” and “one day” don’t exist. We should make a habit of setting timelines and deadlines on all our goals no matter how small they might be. As they say, successful people and underachievers have one thing in common - they have 365 days to a year, 12 months, 52 weeks and 24 hours to a day, the only difference is how effectively the successful people use their time. Why do I think I could go from a kid who could not make his high school team to an athlete who could achieve national colours? I had fire and desire for what I would regard as my own greatness. There were a lot of nay sayers on my journey, but the most important voice to me was the conversations I had with myself, when I revisited my goals to see if I was still on track for where I was determined to be. Just the thought of me not achieving my goal made me sad, that is how much I wanted it. I will be honest with you all, there are and were athletes more talented than I am, but yet I achieved more than many of them. That was only due to my willingness to sacrifice and my EFFORT. I was willing to do what others were not. A quote I like using regarding effort; “wins and losses come a dime a dozen. But effort, nobody can judge that. Because effort is between you and you…” Sports Awards Certificate of achievement Most Improved Equestrian Carla Schmidt (Fishing) Matt du Plessis (Judo) Ashleigh Leedo Equestrian Full colours for achievement Storm Gorham Ashleigh Leedo Nancy-Jane Huntly Kelsey Hunter Tori Nienhuis Kristen-Lee Harrington Discipline Awards Eventing Trophy Kristen Harrington Equestrian of the Year Tori Nienhuis Squash Full Colours Chrizelle Grobbelaar (EP U/19B) Dressage: Kristen-Lee Harrington Equitation: Kelsey Hunter Showing & Show-Jumping: Tori Nienhuis Sportsmaship Award Most Improved Newcomer (Core League) Most Improved Junior Player Carmen Thurner Gabriel Nell Most Improved Newcomer (Eventing) Benecke Trophy - Most Improved Senior Player Nancy-Jane Huntly Zinobuhle Ncame Thandolwethu Ndungane Chad Batty Keenan Geldenhys Bradley Meier 67 Sponsored by the Applewhite family Timothy Duvenhage
