The Under 14 Boys once again had an extremely
successful season. The boys started the year with
the traditional Brebner under 14/15 Itec tournament.
Preparation for this tournament starts early every
year and this year it seemed to start even earlier
than normal. The boys performed exceptionally at
this tournament and it set the season up brilliantly.
The PE Western Zone league was a tough one for
the team this year. The team did not shy away from
the challenge though and went through the entire
season only losing one league match. There is no
formal under 14 soccer at high school so our boys
play in the under 15B league, which makes this an
even better feat as they are playing against teams
one year older than themselves. This season, unfortunately, the league did not run to its completion as
our opponents were unable to compete to the end
due to internal school exams.
The McDonalds Competition 2014 saw the team
making it all the way to the Regional final, only to
lose out to the dreaded penalty shootout. They went
through the Zonal and Regional games in this tournament unbeaten and drew the final 2-2.
To end the season we played two friendly fixtures
against Uruguayan and Argentinian counterparts
touring South Africa. Unfortunately, we drew
against St. Patricks (Uruguay) and lost to Woodlands (Argentina). The team learnt a lot during this
season and I hope their football journey at Victoria
Park will be a long and successful one.
