The Matrics are very sad to be leaving, but would like to wish the remaining team members good luck in the forthcoming season. As a Matric, this is my last year of cricket at VP and I have been fortunate to share the experiences of the last five years with a wonderful group of girls. We have been up against some seriously tough schools, but our girls never gave up and always played with everything they had. Kym Snuggs A highlight during the year was taking part in the Sports Extravaganza with my fellow Matrics: Amy Thompson, Sarah Rijs and Okuhle Ntsababa. Other Matrics leaving this year are Rochelle Swart, Andisiwe Lubambo, Ruth Barry and Courtney Lewis. Congratulations to Ashleigh Snuggs for being most improved player of the year and Okuhle Ntsababa on being selected as player of the year. Cricket is often regarded as boring, but when you are privileged to play with the girls that I have, you are able to see the value of the sport. There is so much uncertainty in cricket. One day you get a hundred, the next day you can be dismissed for a duck. It makes you become practical about things. It teaches you to accept both success and failure. I think I have learnt a lot about life from cricket. 188
