School Cricket Festival. The teams that VP had to
play were Stirling, Selborne, Cambridge and the
Canon Shield Development XI. The VP boys had
outstanding performances and won two of their
matches convincingly. They narrowly lost to Stirling and Selborne. There were some outstanding
individual performances from Kyle Hodgkinson
who scored 137 runs with an average of 34.25 in
four matches and Chad Batty and Siyabonga Ge-
Kyle Hodgkinson – “Kilo” or “the Hammer”
Hard hitting aggressive batsman who destroyed
many bowling attacks. His hard hitting at the top
of the order has given the team good starts in most
matches and has shown much promise in the bowling department.
Siyabonga Gebengana – “Gebz” or “Flea”
Siya has matured into a prolific middle/top order
batsman who works hard for his runs. He is also a
very handy seam bowler and a master in the field.
Siya has taken over the captaincy for 2015 and
shows great promise.
Lubabalo Martin – “Lubie”
A very promising right arm offspin bowler who can
cause havoc in opponents’ batting order. He has
shown his ability with the bat on numerous occasions by helping the team out of tight spots in the
lower order.
bengana, who both scored runs consistently. Garion
Momberg, our spearhead pace bowler, Chad Batty
and Joshuan Assam performed very well with the
ball throughout the festival.
Garion Momberg - “Gazza”
Frighteningly quick opening bowler, who with his
height, can generate good bounce and pace off any
surface. He has intimidated most teams’ opening
batsmen. He has brought much entertainment in the
lower order with his hard hitting ability.
