The boys’ first team hockey knew that after a successful 2013 season, 2014 could be one of the best
hockey seasons ever, if not Victoria Park’s best.
Despite the disappointing results, the consistency
of this team allowed them to thoroughly outplay all
opposition, both locally and from around the country, and they will be remembered as one of the best

pre-season preparation, that this year’s York Easter
Festival would be a good one. We faced some top
hockey schools, including Bergvliet (3-1), Pinelands
(5-0), El Shadai (5-0) and Edgemead, who were the
only unbeaten team at the festival. For most of our
game against Edgemead, they led by a solitary goal,
but after some wonderful offensive play in the circle we were awarded a penalty stroke. Winchester
Scott showed great composure to place the ball past
the goalkeeper to give us a hard fought draw (1-1).
Unfortunately we seemed mentally unable to dominate York High and the silence at the team talk after
the game showed how disappointed the team was
