wonderful events where we sang songs, danced and
played with the children.
This past tenure as the Interact President has been a
great honour and filling the shoes of some amazing
past presidents was no easy task.
Many of our Interacters also volunteered at Uncle
Jumbo’s and donated their precious holiday time to
do Christmas gift wrapping in Walmer Park in aid of
the PE Mental Health Institute.
This year we welcomed our new Interact “Mommy”, Mrs van Niekerk, and started our year with
the Interact Board Camp at Cannon Rocks. As usual, the camp was a great bonding session for the
new board. We learnt a lot about each other and had
plenty of fun in the process but we also managed to
throw in a few planning sessions for the upcoming
year.
As we welcomed the new school year, our textbook and stationery collection came to an end and
the planning for our annual Valentine’s Ball began.
This year the event coincided with Friday the 14th
and it enabled us to host our Valentine’s Civvies
Day as well. Both these events were a roaring success and it was lovely to see everyone dressed in
their Valentine’s colours.
We kick-started our fund-raising with a Spring Civvies Day as our first event. As part of our Spring
Start-Something-New Campaign, we held a stationery, study guide and textbook collection in aid of
a man running extra lessons for the students in the
Walmer Township.
During the April holidays we held an Easter party
for children in the township and it was wonderful to
see lots of little happy faces.
In the December holidays, we hosted two Christmas
parties, one for the Walmer Township Crèche and
another for our cleaning staff’s children. Both were
