Jones, observe both the fire drills and he gave VP a
glowing report.
Mrs Jennings attended the Forums conducted by the
GM Foundation on a bi-monthly basis. Our School
Safety and Security Policy has been updated and a
working group has been established to ensure safety
in the school.
A huge thank you is to go to the teachers and the
whole school for their participation and the excellent
manner in which the fire drill was conducted. VP will
do training of fire marshals during 2015.
The school had two fire drills in the third term, a prepared fire drill and one which was done as a surprise.

Guidance and Counselling
and have been given help with applications for bursaries and institutions. Advice on subject changes
and guidance on study methods to improve marks
has also been well utilized.
At Victoria Park High School, the emphasis is on
the holistic development of each learner. However,
while emphasizing the academic, cultural and sporting development, one cannot neglect the emotional
and spiritual facets of one’s everyday existence. The
Counsellor is therefore a valuable player in serving
and providing a personal link between learner and
school, and learner and parent, based on positive
firmness in the nurture and intervention process.
During the course of the year, many institutions
have been invited to the school to enlighten learners
on opportunities available towards tertiary study.
The annual careers’ day was organized once again
to give the Grade 11 and 12 learners the opportunity to explore different careers. Sixty guest speakers
enjoyed interacting with learners in the classroom,
giving them up-to-date information on the “world of
work”. The feedback from everyone concerned was
extremely positive and proved to be a great success.
Teenagers who are open to counseling have been
better able to implement coping strategies that will
best support them to meet life’s everyday challenges. Through counselling sessions, learners have
been given access to a safe and secure facility where
