International Training on "Basic Gene Cloning, Protein Expression and Purification"

Project background

Study on genetic molecular play a key role in finding new knowledge and creating new biology innovation in many fields including medicine, veterinary medicine, and as well as in public health. Studying on gene of interest, gene and protein expression is an essence of basic molecular study. The main steps for those studies are gene cloning by transformation of target gene to other living things such as E. coli bacteria to grow and replicate without genetic variation. The production of protein from the gene of interest can be acquired according to protein expression and purification protocol. Several medical innovation used advantage of those purified protein that derived from protein expression and purification for example; insulin production, or a test kit for detection of infectious diseases. Therefore, sharing of the knowledge and skill in basic principle and techniques in this field to academic staffs, students and researchers should be conducted, consequently, they can apply knowledge and skill in their research effectively.

Veterinary Public Health for Asia Pacific, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University in collaboration with Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Japan have proposed to organize the training on basic gene cloning, protein expression and purification in order to distribute basic knowledge and skill of gene cloning, protein expression and purification to academic staffs, students, researchers and those interested.

The workshop was organized by VPHCAP, Chiang Mai University in collaboration with Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Japan.

We have an honor from Prof. Dr. Hisao Kurazono and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kayo Okumura from Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangporn Pichpol and Dr. Warangkhana Chaisowwong from Chiang Mai University as instructors.

In this workshop, there were 27 participants from academic institutions.
