Shaping Our Future:
Vorys Diversity & Inclusion Summit
In July 2018, the firm hosted its inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Summit in Columbus, which included
over 40 attorneys from all seven offices, as well as consultants from Vorys Health Care Advisors and
our professional development staff.
The summit was designed to promote fellowship among our attorneys, elicit ideas to further elevate
our diversity and inclusion efforts within the firm and in our communities, and build upon our progress
over the last year. The summit opened with remarks from Michael Martz, the firm’s managing
partner and Jolie Havens, chair of the Vorys Diversity & Inclusion Committee, on the firm’s renewed
commitment to diversity and inclusion and vision for the future; featured a panel of lawyers reflecting
on their own experiences relative to diversity and inclusion; and a design thinking exercise and
separate group discussion focused on meaningful ways we can foster greater cultural innovation and
inclusion at Vorys.
As a direct result of these candid, lively, and interactive discussions, several great ideas raised at the
summit are currently being considered for implementation throughout the firm.
