Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession
In August 2018, Vorys Partner Carl Smallwood spoke on a panel
at the IILP Symposium on the State of Diversity and Inclusion
in the Legal Profession discussing the challenges facing
diverse lawyers in Ohio and the organizational and personal
responsibility to advance diversity and inclusion in the legal
profession. The program was co-hosted with the Columbus
Bar Association.
Columbus Bar Association’s Managing Partners
Diversity Initiative
One of our partners was the driving force behind the CBA’s
Managing Partners Diversity Initiative, which brought together the managing partners of all the major law firms in Columbus to work together
to improve the hiring, retention and advancement of minority lawyers. Our managing partner and the chair of Vorys Diversity & Inclusion
Committee actively participate in this initiative.
Association of Corporate Counsel, Houston Chapter
Vorys is one of two recognized “Diversity Champions” for the Houston Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. In this role, Vorys
sponsors an annual Diversity Dinner and Reception for Houston-area in-house counsel and recipients of the chapter’s diversity scholarships. In
addition, Vorys presents CLEs on diversity and inclusion topics to the chapter’s members.
