Dot
When Dot moved into her new Abbeyfield home, her daughter said “why don’t you start knitting again, Mum?”.
So, with the help of her Abbeyfield home, that’s exactly what Dot did. She now makes squares for blankets
to support a local charity and there is no stopping her!
“
Age is no barrier to volunteering, I’m eighty eight! I don’t want to volunteer outside
the house but I can do something I enjoy from the comfort of my own home.
“
And while Dot is making a huge difference to her local community, she’s made a big difference to the house too.
“
My volunteering role has been great as the whole house have
now got involved. Other residents saw me knitting and asked
what I was doing so I helped a couple of the ladies get started
by giving them wool. Now we all get together most afternoons
for a knit and natter!
