Marcie
Seven year old Marcie is one of our youngest volunteers. She enjoys spending time
with our residents, joining in with activities and helping with coffee mornings.
She even has her own tabard!
Marcie’s grandmother says:
“
The residents love her visits and their faces light up whenever she comes in. Some residents
don’t get many visitors or have any family so spending time with Marcie makes a big
difference.
“
“I’ve seen a positive difference in particular with one of our residents. She has dementia and struggles with
speech but when Marcie comes in and gives her a hug, she has a huge smile and is able to say ‘love’.”
Marcie has a keen interest in learning about dementia. In coming to the home and visiting the residents she is
able to gain a better understanding of it.

It makes me proud that she’s so little but is so interested in dementia and helping others.
She’s such a lovely, caring young girl.
