Towards the end of my last semester in the ninth year a teacher announced
the beginning of a prep course. That course was directed for the best
universities in Brazil, like IME and ITA.
That day I thought that it was a good opportunity to learn more things than
what we were learning in the regular classes. But there was a problem, the
children interested in that course had to take a test and only the first forty
could get into the course.
Due to that, I gave up. I thought I would not pass. A few weeks later, after
talking it over with my mom , I decided to take the test and try to pass it. I
started to study. I studied all the subjects and felt that I would pass.
On the day of the test, I was completely calm. I received the test and did it
all although it was extremely hard. When I finished the test I thought to
myself "I won’t pass, really, I will not"
During the following week, I received the good news that I had passed and I
would get into the course. I was very happy. Some days later I received
another good news, I was the third in the general placement. After that
time, I learnt that nothing is impossible, if you want , you can.
