“In the dust of defeat as well as the laurels of victory there is a glory to be found if one
has done his best.” ― Eric Liddell
Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global
financial centre with a tropical climate and multicultural
population. In circa-1820 Chinatown stands the red-and-gold
Buddha’s Tooth Relic Temple, Little India offers colorful souvenirs
and Arab Street is lined with fabric shops. Singapore is also
known for eclectic street fare, served in hawker centers such as
Tiong Bahru and Maxwell Road.
There are various shopping belts in Singapore, Marina Bay, Bugis
Street, Chinatown, Geylang Serai, Kampong Gelam & Arab
Street,Little India, North Bridge Road, Orchard Road, and The
Suburbs.
The Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, allows people to
explore Asian, African and South American habitats at night,
without any visible barriers between guests and the wild animals.
Pulau Ubin, an island offshore Singapore, is slowly becoming a
popular tourist spot. The nature wildlife there is left undisturbed.

Fra nkly, if I hadn't had my fill of Singapore in October of this year,
I'd have happily booked my flight yet again to experience "X'Mas
in the Tropics" which, by any standards, sounds spectacular. To
begin with, it's a hi-concept, marketing wise. Most well-heeled
Indian families in search of a fun-time over the festive period, end
up in either London or New York. Not bad as options, but way too
far to travel, just to party for a week... and err...get one's butt
frozen.
What Singapore offers as an attractive alternative (far cheaper,
too), is a virtual fairy- land strung up with zillions of lights. Orchard
Road, which is to hard-core luxury brand shoppers what Bond
Street is to the same set, is virtually gift-wrapped for the season.
Imagine a 6.4 km stretch, glittering and glowing away, with all
those groaning-under-grandeur malls, dazzling and beckoning
shoppers to splurge, splurge ,splurge.
