Parenta Trust, the charitable arm of the Parenta Group of Companies, has commissioned its third nursery in Eastern Africa for orphaned and disadvantaged children.

The charity was set up in 2013 with a view to extend Parenta’s message of “Helping those who care for children” into Africa. It set an ambitious plan to build 10 nursery schools in East Africa within 10 years.

So far though, the trustees have exceeded all expectations, having now commissioned their third nursery this year alone.

The nursery will be built and managed by Fields of Life, Parenta’s partner on the ground in Africa. Fields of Life have constructed over 100 schools in Eastern Africa and have an ambitious plan to continue to build schools and drill fresh water wells throughout the region.

Commenting on the commissioning of its third nursery, Andrew Cooper, Chairman of Parenta Trust said: “Being able to commission our third school during 2014 has far exceeded our hopes and aspirations for assisting pre-school aged children in Eastern Africa, and we are beginning to see a real impact on the ground.”

The third school will accommodate around 150 children under 5. This will bring the total number of pre-school aged children being provided with a quality education through Parenta Trust to 450.

Allan Presland, Founder of Parenta Trust and MD of Parenta Group, paid tribute to those who had contributed to raising the funds: “My thanks go out to those members of our amazing Parenta team who have helped raise funds for the charity, or who sponsor some of the children at the nursery schools, as well as to local businesses, friends and childcare community as a whole who have done so much to raise funds. I am truly touched that so many people have supported our cause.”
