Atl Bar Board LRIS Board ASK THE BOARD Atl Bar Board CHRIS LIGHTNER Alston & Bird, LLP One thing I saw during the quarantine which I never thought I'd see was this story from thedodo.com showing people inviting goats onto their zoom meetings. You can view the story and video, here. KEVIN PATRICK Kevin Patrick Law As we transitioned to a digital world in many ways during the last couple of months, I have found myself taking more virtual depositions in our personal injury cases. I do miss interacting with the other parties and their attorneys in person. But nevertheless, there is a silver-lining: I now have the opportunity to get to know their pets. There have been a few occasions during a deposition where a dog will stroll into the room, snoop around for a moment, and sometimes even bark at the screen. A little laughter is welcomed by all of us. I suppose this lighthearted moment is a way to make up for a “ruff ” day and give us all a new “leash” on life. CLE Board KIER PRINCE Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans During quarantine and outside of work, I completed Harvard's Computer Science for Lawyers course where I received a certificate and learned how to code and make my own website. I am not a computer science expert and did not believe I would find myself picking up the skill. JOANNA SMITH Georgia Family Law Project, LLC During Covid, my wife and I filmed a puppet show for her grad school final project. Fun, but I'm not going to quit my day job any time soon. Atl Bar Board EMILY WARD Smith Gambrell & Russell, LLP Not me, but one of my friends had to privately chat opposing counsel during a Zoom hearing to let him know that his screen name identified him as “Excellent Burger” rather than his real name. He thanked her and blamed his kids for changing it! www.atlantabar.org THE ATLANTA LAWYER 7
