Custom bowstrings have some distinct advantages over the mass-produced strings that come on most bows today. The amount of attention given to these strings is what helps to set them apart. William “Hutch” Hutchinson and his two daughters run Bowstring Depot (BSD) in Gilmanton, NH. They take great pride in the strings they produce.

Using BCY Trophy string materials with GoreTM fibers to help repel water, each string is twisted together using customer-selected colors in the exact, pre-stretched length that your bow calls for. Hutch guaran-tees his strings with his motto “We sell ‘em, we build ‘em, we back ‘em”.

I recently installed a BSD custom string on a PSE Discovery 2 and the fit and colors really spruce up the bow. The quality in the servings is evident and Hutch even goes the extra mile and installs silicone finger slicks that are popular for bowfishing.

String orders for all manners of bows, including Oneida, as well as custom para-cord creations like wrist slings, are available through the Bowstring Depot website. Hutch is also planning to offer custom crossbow and Flemish strings in the near future. From your order until the string is made and shipped could be as little as 4 days. Custom bowstrings run $24.50 - $95 TYD depending on your application.
