Rules & Details for 2018 Scholarships To apply for the Union’s scholarship please use the application request forms published here. Scholarships are open to active members affiliated with Local 770 in good standing from September 2017 through September 2018, their spouses, parents and children. Request for an application package must be received in the Union’s office by March 1, 2018. Completed application packages must be received by March 31, 2018. All applicants must be available to attend an oral interview, which will be conducted on one of two Saturdays in June 2018. Applicants who do not attend the oral interview will be automatically disqualified with no exceptions. The Local 770/Dental Health Associates Scholarship Students who are (or will be) enrolled full time (Undergraduate: 12 or more units; Graduate: 6 or more units) in a degree program at any accredited college during the 2018-2019 school year are eligible for scholarship awards. Local 770’s Scholarship Committee judges applicants based on the essay they submit, past records and achievements, and an oral interview. Each year Dental Health Associates (DHA) makes a major contribution to this scholarship program. DHA provides dental services at locations throughout 770’s jurisdiction, and is directed by Victor S. Sands, DDS, MS. Joseph T. De Silva Scholarship -Exclusively for USC Students This program is exclusively for students attending USC and is funded by a grant from the late founder of UFCW Local 770, Joseph T. De Silva, and from memorial gifts made in his name. Awards are issued to full-time USC students, graduate or undergraduate. Awards are issued based on essays, past records and achievements as well as an interview with Local 770’s Scholarship Committee.
