In response, our Union notified the
Employers that these surveys can not, should
not, and will not be used to discipline or
bring any action against a member.
Here too, we are documenting the abuse.
While the Companies claim that is not the
intent of the surveys, we intend to begin
the conversation with them about how such
surveys are being used to create an unhealthy
and hostile work environment.

As we shared our experiences and discussed
how to resolve our workplace issues, our
Union became stronger. And even after
a couple of months, many workers are
reporting that some of these conditions
have improved. It is true, that a strong and
effective Union comes not just from all of us
knowing our rights, but by standing together
to enforce them!!

Then, when can I leave?
Similarly, a campaign was developed with
many Kaiser members over what appears to
be nothing less than a continual refusal to
permit employees to take contractually and
legislatively-guaranteed right to leave work
for protected reasons. Further investigation
has found this issue to be so widespread and
harmful, that the entire coalition of Kaiser
Unions has now taken it on as its own!
