Rules & Details for 2017 Scholarships Local 770 College Scholarships for 2017
To apply for the Union ’ s scholarship please use the application request forms published here .
Scholarships are open to active members affiliated with Local 770 in good standing from September 2016 through September 2017 , their spouses , parents and children . Request for an application package must be received in the Union ’ s office by March 1 , 2017 . Completed application packages must be received by March 31 , 2017 . All applicants must be available to attend an oral interview , which will be conducted on one of two Saturdays in June 2017 . Applicants who do not attend the oral interview will be automatically disqualified with no exceptions .
The Local 770 / Dental Health Associates Scholarship
Students who are ( or will be ) enrolled full time ( Undergraduate : 12 or more units ; Graduate : 6 or more units ) in a degree program at any accredited college during the 2017-2018 school year are eligible for scholarship awards . Local 770 ’ s Scholarship Committee judges applicants based on the essay they submit , past records and achievements , and an oral interview . Each year Dental Health Associates ( DHA ) makes a major contribution to this scholarship program . DHA provides dental services at locations throughout 770 ’ s jurisdiction , and is directed by Victor S . Sands , DDS , MS .
Joseph T . De Silva Scholarship – Exclusively for USC Students
This program is exclusively for students attending USC and is funded by a grant from the late founder of UFCW Local 770 , Joseph T . De Silva , and from memorial gifts made in his name . Awards are issued to full-time USC students , graduate or undergraduate . Awards are issued based on essays , past records and achievements as well as an interview with Local 770 ’ s Scholarship Committee . Eligible USC students should be full-time ( Undergraduate : 12 units or more ; Graduate : 6 units or more ) and in a degree program .
