When Bad Things in Life
Bring Out Good Things in People
With 130 mph winds and over 40 inches of rain,
Hurricane Harvey took 77 lives and caused billions
of dollars in damage. Hardest hit were our
neighbors in Texas. Like many of us after Katrina,
many Texans were left without electricity, food, or
even a home. But our generous parishioners (and
others in our community) jumped right in and
started relief efforts.
With the help of St. Clement of Rome and Blessed
Trinity Parishes, Fisher High School, and Budget
Saver, VOL filled a 26-foot U-haul truck with
food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, baby supplies,
and much more. Two of our Men’s Club
members, Raymond Bond and Mark Sanderson,
delivered the supplies to St. Bartholomew
Catholic Church in Katy, Texas, along with gift
cards, a $17,000 check from VOL and a $22,000
check from St. Clement of Rome.
A big THANK YOU to all who helped with
relief efforts! We can’t stop bad things like
hurricanes from happening, but when they do,
we can find the good in our hearts to help
others.
