This time of year, you’ll find plenty of seasonal markets all
around the city. Just a bit south of Remington, the Maryland
Institute College of Art (MICA) in Bolton Hill hosts an
annual arts fair, a four-day holiday market in which 300 of
MICA’s students, alumni, staff and faculty sell their artwork
and crafts to the public. Fifteen percent of sales go toward
student scholarships.
And at the Inner Harbor, the annual Christmas Village,
modeled after traditional German Christmas markets, sets
up shop just prior to Thanksgiving. More than 50 vendors
peddle German and European crafts (think wooden dolls and
handmade ornaments) in a holiday atmosphere that includes
thousands of lights, a huge tree, and special treats like
German roasted nuts and glühwein. Q
