Yale Street in Chinatown received a makeover from the Bureau of Street Services as a part of the Safe Routes to School Strategic Plan . Street improvements included a raised landscape median , curb extensions , yellow continental crosswalks , Americans with Disabilities Act – compliant access ramps , roadway striping , and new signs . Raised medians have been credited with up to a 46-percent reduction in vehicle collisions with pedestrians .
