Haylee Freudigmann has been a key member of the Global Interaction team in Melbourne for the last 6 years. As she concludes her role, she reflects on what makes a difference in mission. Prayer has been a part of my life for as long as I remember. I know as a follower of Jesus, prayer is the lifeblood of who we are; our faith does not survive without prayer. And while I pray earnestly to God about many things in my life in the real hope that He might answer, I have to admit (confession time) that I am still often surprised when God responds. You may remember that as part of May Mission Month we asked you to pray with us the 10:02 prayer. Together we set our phone alarms for two minutes past ten each day during the month and prayed that workers may be raised up for the vast harvest field of people that are ready to hear the message of Jesus (Luke 10:2). All around Australia people stopped for a moment each morning and uttered a few powerful words, asking that God might stir up a desire and willingness in people’s hearts to serve Him among the least-reached people groups of the world. So when I was chatting to one of Global Interaction’s State Director’s recently, I shouldn’t have been surprised when he said that he had received a large number of calls from people wanting to know more about serving with Global Interaction. More people had enquired in a month than in the three years he’d been working with Global Interaction! Still not figuring that God may have responded to our prayers (ye of little faith), I went on to ask him what he thought had made the difference in the number of people responding. His answer was simple and direct, “Prayer, prayer is what makes the difference.” Right around Australia and the world, people are praying. Praying for Global Interaction workers, their ministry and their families. Praying for those who are yet to hear the message of Jesus. Praying that more people would put up their hand to serve cross-culturally in communities that are considered least-reached. So to all who prayed during May and to those who have been praying for years, for the work and ministry of Global Interaction, we say thank you. We continue to see the fruit of your prayers. And to those who are wondering whether their prayers may make a difference; Surprise! They do matter. God does answer. Bob noticed there could be more dedicated opportunities for partners of Global Interaction to get together to pray and encourage one another. He thought, “Why not encourage people to open their homes to others who also wish to pray for Global Interaction’s ministries?” Bob contacted some supporters and invited them begin the initiative. The concept is simple - to have a cup of tea and then pray. The Global Interaction team collates and supplies prayer needs to the hosts. So far five Prayer Rooms have commenced between the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, all gathering during the first week of the month. Bob is looking for more willing hosts and committed pray-ers. Just imagine how powerful this will be, both for the pray-ers, the cross-cultural workers and the least-reached people groups yet to know Jesus.
