my bottom lip as I retracted my boot from the
mush.
“Theodore,” my father nearly whined.
“Now everything’s ruined! You’re a twenty two
year old still living in your dad’s house, for crying out loud! If you won’t go to college, then
what will you do?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted with a shrug. “I
don’t necessarily enjoy any forms of career.”
“You like space!” Antoinette enthused.
“Couldn’t you do something with that, like make
a store for all of your products? Ooh, and you
could name your store, ‘Geekdom’!”
My dad pinched the bridge of his nose in
embarrassment. Either that or he was trying to
ignore the stench. Come to think of it, probably
both reasons contributed. “Son, please tell me
you’re not actually considering this.”
A grin spread across my face as the
warmth in my chest grew to the point where I
could no longer consider it unbearable, but rather
comforting.
Thus “Geekdom” was born. With financial
support from my father, and manual labor from
Antoinette the store became a huge success.
Though of course, I couldn’t have gotten anywhere without Goat, for who’s uncontrollable
gluttony inspired me to find my dream. Well,
more or less, but you get the point.
