Special constables who give their time to
help police the county volunteered for a
record number of hours in June and July.
A striking
success!
A team of special constables
brought in 20 outstanding
suspects over two strike days
on June 27 and September 2
in Swadlincote.
The deployment was designed to support the
local LPU to find suspects wanted for crimes
including racially aggravated assault, criminal
damage, fraud and failing to appear at court.
Of the twenty who were traced, nine were
arrested and eleven attended voluntary interviews.
One house was searched for evidence under
section 32 of PACE, two traffic offence reports
were issued, one uninsured vehicle was seized
and an immediate domestic incident attended.
Sgt Tony Owen the organiser of both strike days
has been really pleased with the results. He
said: “On the back of our success on the
previous strike day, it’s been impressive
to watch the special officers to
outdo themselves.
“The impact these
