Derbyshire Police Cadets celebrate their first wedding
Our police cadets are
celebrating the first wedding
to come from their ranks.
On Friday September 1, Michael
Scott (24) and Jade Harrison (23),
from Derby, were married at St Mary’s
Catholic Church in the city having met
in 2010 when they both served as
cadets.
PC Laura Robins is the co-ordinator
for the cadets and says: “Michael
was a second year cadet when Jade
joined in 2010. He mentored her
during that first year as they both went
on to complete their silver Duke of
Edinburgh award.
“The aim of the cadets is to give
young people an insight in to the
many and varied aspects of policing,
to make them aware of the role of
the police in society, to develop their
character and to promote good
citizenship but I never thought that we
would have someone getting married
as a result.”
Talking on the Derbyshire
Constabulary Volunteer Vlog at their
wedding celebrations at Hoar Cross
Hall, Staffordshire, the happy couple
said:
“We are the first cadet
couple to get married.
Cadets was amazing,
brilliant. It changed
our lives as you can
see, so stick with
cadets.”
The couple have now
flown back to Virgin
Gorda, British Virgin
Islands, where Michael
is working in engineering
although Jade still has
ambitions to become a police
officer.
