GET FIT Absolutely written by Yasmin Tavakoli It’s no secret that the holidays tend to take a toll on our bodies. Most of us notice the biggest hits are to our waistline. To avoid the bulge during the long winter months we’ve gathered the top ab moves to trim down those waistlines and get through the holidays without any bumps (literally). SWISS BALL LIFT Lay flat on the ground with the stability ball between your feet. Place both hands by your sides. While the stability ball is gripped with your feet, raise the ball to a 90-degree angle with your legs and slowly lower the ball back to starting position. Repeat 4 sets of 15. BICYCLE CRUNCH Lay flat on the ground with back pressed into the floor. Place hands on each side of the head. (Do not lock or pull your head up.) Lift knees to a 45-degree angle. Bring your right knee closer to your body, and reach your left elbow to it. Repeat with left knee and right elbow. Do 4 sets of 15 on each side. 1 2 1 2 1 SIDE PLANK Begin position in a side elbow resting plank. Keep the torso long and stable, lift your waist, hips and knees off the floor. Hold for 20 to 40 seconds and then lower. Repeat 25 times and then alternate sides. Challenge yourself a step further by placing your hand behind your head as you lift. 2 THE HOLIDAY ISSUE l VILLE l 41
