pizza & wine night The Villa Charities Foundation Young Leaders Committee, a new organization established to help cultivate the next generation of leaders at Villa Charities, held an inaugural Pizza & Wine Night. Thirty participants created and enjoyed pizzas at the event, which was held in November 2018 in partnership with Hero Certifi ed Pizza. 12 Participants created pizzas ranging from cheese and tomato sauce to Nutella and jam while sipping on wine and enjoying the company of other young leaders. Proceeds from the event were directed to support senior care at Villa Charities’ two long-term care facilities. tree of life The Young Leaders Committee was established to engage Italian-Canadian professionals in their 20s and 30s in Villa Charities Foundation activities. Social events and networking opportunities hosted by the Committee celebrate and promote Italian-Canadian culture. VILLA CHARITIES FOUNDATION The venerable Tree of Life program, which began at Villa Colombo Toronto (VCT) in 1995, has raised over $620,000 since its inception. three assisted living apartments and to seniors living in the community through Meals on Wheels, Day Programs and more. Funds raised by the program help support VCT’s residential long-term care facility for seniors and services provided to seniors in Villa Charities’ The program, which raised $11,000 in 2017, is built around a permanent and highly visible centrepiece – a stylized bronze and brass “tree” fixed to a wall ANNUAL REPORT in Villa Colombo Toronto’s main piazza. Donations are commemorated with tributes inscribed to family members and friends on leaves, rocks and stars surrounding the tree, each representing a different giving level. 13
