THE CAMPAIGN FOR VILLA ACADEMY
Dear Friends:
Villa Academy is a special place. With roots tracing back to 1903, we have a rich tradition
of educating the whole child through strong academics, an environment that promotes
confidence, and a culture of compassion. Our community’s dedication and involvement has
provided resources that continue to make Villa an exceptional school.
That dedication and involvement made possible important milestones on Villa’s journey that
ensured our future:
• In 1977, when the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart made a decision to depart
and close Villa, a visionary group of parents we call The New Founders formed an
independent Board of Trustees and assumed school governance, establishing the Villa we
know today.
• In 2007, after leasing our land and facilities for more than 30 years, a capital campaign
was conducted to purchase our historic building and grounds, giving our school a
permanent home.
• In 2013, we purchased the remaining 3 acres in front of the school building that complete
our campus grounds.
Villa exists today because our predecessors had a vision, and we are the beneficiaries of that
vision. We seek to continue their legacy by advancing the school’s mission and solidifying
Villa as one of Seattle’s premier PreK-8 schools.
The following pages describe new milestones on Villa’s journey:
• The installation of a new multipurpose turf field for sports, classes, and activities
• The preservation our historic main building
• The advancement of our educational program through an increased focus on science,
technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.
