April 24 from 1pm to 2pm- Shake-Scene . Join us for a rollicking ride through some of the Bard ’ s finest poetry and most compelling characters ! Featuring scenes and monologues from some of Shakespeare ’ s best known plays , this original compilation digs into universal themes such as the price of power , the risks of falling in love , and what to do with a murder weapon .
April 25 from 10am to 11am- Rosie ’ s Mom : Forgotten Women of the First World War . One hundred years ago , a full generation before Rosie the Riveter , women rolled up their sleeves and entered war industries where they had never been welcome before . They ran powerful machinery , learned new skills , and faced the sullen hostility of the men in the shops .
In this illustrated lecture , historian Carrie Brown reveals their courage and their hard work , and explores how these women helped shape the work that their more famous daughters would do in the next World War .
April 25 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm- Wilderness First Aid : Wound Care . Bring in your hiking / first aid kit and join Ariel Temple at the MCL to learn how to use it ! Ages 12 +. Join us for a 2-hour evening session covering the basics of Wound Care in the wilderness . You will learn how to stop life-threatening bleeds , properly apply a tourniquet , clean and dress different types of soft-tissue wounds , and identify wound infections . All wounds will be simulated , but come dressed to get a little messy and possibly stained . Bringing your own First Aid Kit is not required , but recommended if you are looking for advice on any items in your kit .
April 26 from 5pm to 7pm- Gallery Opening : Peter Bosco ’ s Hand of Man , Pencil of Nature , Pictures of the Constructed and Natural World .
April 27 from 11am to 12pm- Moving Heat : Local Geothermal and Thermal Network Energy Solutions . Geothermal energy often evokes hot rocks and geysers , but also refers to one of the cleanest ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions from buildings , provide resilient infrastructure , and even reduce electricity use . Beginning with the basics and benefits of shallow geothermal heating and cooling , this session describes the opportunity to use the heat we already have to decarbonize our buildings .
