Norman S. Case Jr.
Born July 8, 1917, in Bethel, Vermont,
Norman S. Case Jr., 97, died Nov. 15, 2014.
After attending the Perkins Institute for the
Blind, he graduated magna cum laude from
Brown University. He subsequently graduated from Yale Law School, clerked for Asa
Bloomer in Rutland, and was admitted to
the bar in January 1944. After a stint at the
Federal Communications Commission, he
opened a law practice in downtown Bethel, where he practiced for more than fifty
years. He served as Bethel town clerk and
town counsel for forty-three years. In 1970,
he was a charter member of the American
Blind Lawyers Association, serving as treasurer and president. He was involved in a
number of other community activities. He
is survived by a sister, a son and two daughters and their partners, and numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
S. Stacy Chapman III
Born June 27, 1954, in Milford, Massachusetts, S. Stacy Chapman III, 60, of Rutland Town died October 5, 2014. He graduated from Stonehill College and Vermont
Law School. He was admitted to the bar
in 1979 and began practicing in the firm
Costello and Webber in Rutland, later becoming a full partner. Later, he formed
the firm Webber, Chapman and Kupferer, where he practiced until his death. He
was also admitted in Massachusetts and
to the federal bar. He was very active in
the Vermont Bar Association, serving for
many years on the Board of Managers and
as president of the association from September 2007 to September 2008. He is survived by his wife, Laura, and two daughters
and their partners, two stepsons, his parents, his sister and her husband, three nieces and two nephews.
Charles Eichel
Charles “Buzz” Eichel of Dorset died December 25, 2014. Born in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, he graduated from Williams
College in 1954 and New York University
School of Law in 1957. He entered the New
York bar in 1958 and subsequently joined
the bars of Florida and Vermont. He practiced in Manchester, Vermont, for over fifty
years. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, a son and his wife, two stepdaughters,
a sister, and numerous other relatives.
